deer season, continued

img_0697img_0698

only 7 days left….   It hasn’t been too bad.  Not too many shots going off in the woods, not too many trucks pulled over.  Many truck hunters though, cruising around, hoping to get lucky.   An interesting practice around here is how the local sheriffs plant deer decoys to try and catch deer jackers (people who shoot at deer after dark – which is illegal) in appropriate and typical deer hangout spots such as under apple trees.  The decoy looks a lot like a deer, and is made of some kind of plastic and sawdust – and it has a name:  “Blinky”.   A Blinky was placed in a field near us a few years ago, and a guy shot at it about 9 at night.   Cops waiting in the bushes jumped out and arrested him.
